GRAINGER is a Fortune 500 company and the leading broad line supplier of facilities maintenance products in North America. We are currently seeking a District Branch Services Manager to join our growing team in the Northeast District.
The DBSM will provide functional leadership and expertise to Branch Managers and their teams to ensure the highest levels of sales focus, operational excellence and customer satisfaction. They will also ensure strategic and tactical alignment with all business partners and have responsibility for 9-12 branches within the DC, VA, and MD Market.
The District Branch Services Manager is responsible for 5 key areas – Business Leadership, Human Resources, Sales Growth, Asset Management and Operational Excellence.
Major Job Responsibilities within these areas include the following:
Business Leadership
* Responsible for implementing Company strategy at a district level in Branch Services.
* Collaborate with sales management to create, execute, and measure sales and marketing tactics that are required by Company strategy and financial objectives.
* Collaborate across sales, marketing, and other channels to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction at the district level.
* Lead assigned district in the implementation, monitoring, and measurement of core processes around product availability and product search and selection and order to remittance.
Human Resources
* Identify and develop future leaders and strong contributors through the use of Performance Excellence and succession planning.
* Select, develop, train, and retain a diverse management team. Hold management team accountable for developing a diverse staff.
* Coach Branch Managers in their understanding, implementation, and execution of Performance Excellence.
* Set the example and coach Branch Managers in their understanding and commitment to live the Grainger values.
* Provide development opportunities to employees to ensure a pipeline of talent exists within organization to support company growth.
Asset Management
* Monitor, analyze, and adjust inventory performance to provide counter and will-call customers exceptional inventory availability.
* Work with Real Estate Services to ensure optimal utilization of current and future branch locations.
* Collaborate with District Sales Managers and R&D Pilots to create and implement local branch footprints.
Operational Excellence
* Analyze and manage branch cost structure
* Lead Branch Managers in the achievement of operational efficiency through the use of the BBX.
* Work with Branch Managers and District Sales Managers to ensure branch product availability to meet customer requests.
* Work with Branch Managers and local sellers to identify marketing solutions for growing counter and will-call volume.
* Lead Branch Managers in the development of flawless counter customer service.
* Lead Branch Managers in the achievement of a consistent order management process.
* Ensures Branch Managers are providing a safe work environment for employees and customers.
* Assist in the coordination of special services in the local markets.
* Analyze and manage district customer satisfaction.
* Collaborate with Internal Audit on compliance issues and process improvements.
Sales Growth
* Work with sales management to ensure coordinated leadership of sales performance and resource allocation.
* Ensure coordination of issues between sales and branch services.
* Work with sales management to ensure that behaviors of sellers and Branch Managers are consistent with Grainger values and supportive of strategic objectives.
Position Requirements include:
* Must have leadership skills that are consistent with the Grainger Values, as well as an ability to operate in a matrix environment.
* Must be able to coach and develop managers.
* Able to facilitate the alignment of cross-functional groups, especially professional sellers.
* Effective communicator. Capable of speaking in an effective and influential manner to branch employees, professional sellers, Branch Managers, and customers.
* Ability to drive sales focused behaviors with all levels of employee.
* Strong process ownership skills. Understands the mechanics of running a Grainger branch.
* Understands the branch culture and its customer centric nature.
* Excellent business acumen and understanding of financial and economic concepts to perform the necessary strategic and tactical assignments.
* Understands and can teach process control.
* Proven ability to drive results in a manner that is consistent with the Grainger Values.
* Technology acumen.
* College degree or equivalent work experience.
* Must have excellent presentation skills, strong customer focus, and ability to manage change.
* Must be able to motivate, inspire, and achieve results through others.
* Some travel is required.
