We are currently seeking a Sr. Buyer for a medical device company located in Franklin Lakes, NJ. The Buyer will be sourcing and pricing Lab Equipment and maybe responsible for finalizing contracts with the approval of management. The candidate must be flexible to work on special projects and they must have SAP. They maybe required to travel up to 10%. General Function: The Senior Buyer performs standard purchasing tasks to procure materials and services consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery and total cost, primarily in support of operations. Procurement transactions are typically of medium to high risk, total value or criticality to the business, and additionally may be related to new technology and/or critical for continued operation of the business. Strategic Orientation: The Senior Buyer exercises judgment and knowledge of assigned commodities to make purchasing consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery and total cost. Maintains complete responsibility for assigned goods, services or transactions from receipt of requisition, placement of orders, and change orders; and may include receipt of parts, acceptance of parts to stock and disposition of discrepant material. Monitors PPV and provides input to forecast. May handle negotiations, contracts, inventory levels, delivery modes, and identification of new sources of supply to assure highest possible total value and quality levels. Sphere of Influence: The Senior Buyer Services reports to the Buyer Services Manager. Influence extends to peers and team members, and may extend to key stakeholders around commodity plans. Serves in a liaison capacity between Customers and Supplier representatives to obtain solutions to routine problems and issues. Strong alignment to Commodity Manager and/or Strategic Sourcing Manager, and participates on strategic sourcing teams as applicable. May recommend substitutes and/or changes to specifications, new technologies and suppliers. May be involved in cross-functional teams and engage with suppliers to resolve more complex problems. Required Skills and Knowledge: The Senior Buyer must demonstrate competencies in the following areas: • Cost management practices • Negotiation, including strategy, process and methods • Purchasing processes • Solid purchasing fundamentals The following competencies are preferred, but not necessarily required: • Contract creation and management • Customer focus • IT Systems including SAP, Enterprise Buyer Professional and the Microsoft Office Suite • Project management • Quantitative and financial analysis • Knowledge of a strategic sourcing process • Supply market knowledge • Training delivery Experience: • Demonstrable buying experience with 5 to 10 years experience in purchasing, placing orders, solving problems and dealing with suppliers. Education: • B.S. or B.A. Degree in Business Administration, Procurement or related field. Travel requirements: • Up to 10% travel may be required, depending on assignments. Degree of Accountability: The Senior Buyer is responsible for all activities related to the acquisition of assigned spend areas. Accountable for supplier performance and availability of materials and services at defined quality and cost levels. Responsible for accurate data and compliance of documentation with defined policies and procedures including GMP, regulatory and ISO guidelines. Financial Impact: The Senior Buyer secures timely availability of materials at defined quality and cost levels. Improves the bottom line through value added activity, quality improvement and cost reductions. If appropriate for the assigned spend, establishes material standard costs, monitors and forecasts variances (PPV). May negotiate supplier agreements and draft contracts, and secure timely availability of critical materials at optimum quality and cost levels.
