Job/Project Details: Customer Credit Representative I Basic Purpose: Maintain accounts receivable and collections within the predetermined limits of the company credit policy. Investigate and establish new accounts, answer questions/complaints from customers and/or sales personnel, resolve account problems. II. Key Accountabilities: Essential Functions: 1. Telephone customers beyond credit terms to make arrangements for collection. 2. Maintain customer call log with updated information. 3. Update customer credit limits on an ongoing basis. 4. Accept and answer incoming calls from customers with questions and/or complaints concerning their receivables balance. 5. Respond to written communications from customers. 6. Mail copies of lost invoices and proof of delivery to customers when necessary. 7. Maintain and follow through with schedule of promised payments and/or callbacks. 8. Maintain communication with sales force concerning the credit status of their accounts. 9. Respond to written and verbal requests for credit ratings to appropriate outside sources. 10. Release orders on credit hold as appropriate. 11. Process credit dept. mail to proper personnel. 12. Recommend accounts that should be placed for collection with outside agency and complete proper paper work. 13. System Failure-Process hand tickets, maintain a log of the orders and copies, verify order is input. 14. Complete proper paperwork on customer check requests. 15. Research and process new customer reports/credit applications, assign account numbers and input new customer masters. 16. Recommend credit lines on new accounts. 17. Authorized to extend credit lines to $25,000 18. Assist other correspondents in maintaining customer credit files. 19. Research previously unsolved credit problems 20. Supply receivables adjusters with necessary information/documentation to clear debits and credits from accounts. 21. Perform all other duties assigned by the credit manager. 22. Process credit cards as needed for account portfolio. Non-Essential Functions: Accompany sales and/or management on collection visits. III Work Environment: Normal office working conditions Equipment: Telephone, Calculator, PC, Fax, Credit Card Machine Materials Used: Computer Reports, Dunn and Bradstreet Rating Manual, and PC IV Career Architect Competencies: 1. Knowledge: good basis knowledge of accounting, credit and collection. 2. Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers. Must have good telephone skills. 3. Ability: Must have the ability to work with a variety of people in a professional, accurate manner. 4. Education: High school diploma preferred plus basic accounting, college business courses and credit courses helpful. 5. Experience: Two years of collection experience a must. One year basic credit experience. Prior experience with computers and their functions as well as knowledge of credit reports and manuals. 6. Supervision: No supervisory skills required. df-jb
