| Job/Project Details: |
Unison Systems has an immediate opening for a Sybase DBA/Developer at one of our Denver client companies. This role has responsibility for database health, backup and recovery techniques, data distributions, data analysis and environment configuration and application support in the database. Support of multiple development and production environments. On-call rotation will be required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures that proprietary software written on Sybase databases are maintained at the highest level of support. Ensures that client/server applications run successfully and are optimally tuned to maximize use of system resources while minimizing client impact. Resolves problems and answers questions related to Sybase and proprietary software environments. Perform ad-hoc queries, data updates, and reports as necessary. Database system development and development maintenance will be essential duty of position. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED: - Solid understanding of relational database management system including tables, schemas, indexes, configuration parameters for performance, security, and data integrity. - Working knowledge of performance monitors and debugger tools. - Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts. - Full knowledge of Sybase products, including programming and ways to optimize T-SQL code. - Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs. - Ability to solve problems quickly and thoroughly. - Proven ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence. - Team player with proven communication skills. - Ability to work with other functional groups effectively. - BS in Computer and Information Science. - Five to seven years experience and at least one in on-the-job database development and production support. Preferred skills: ASE 15, 12.5, Replication Server 15, IQ 12.x, Windows OS, Linux, Solaris Unix, perl, korn shell scripting, SQL Anywhere.
