| Job/Project Details: |
This position serves as a technical resource to support our client's Holding Corporation, its subsidiaries, correspondent and partner firms, and any other organization as directed. The position is available in the NJ Data Center located in Jersey City, NJ and will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels. This position will be First shift 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Friday RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the physical planning, scheduling and installation of new computer hardware, network equipment and environmental resources. · Create documentation to be used in planning installation/upgrades of systems. · Communicate with vendors and other groups to determine needs. · Ensures accurate placement of equipment on the raised floor. · Ensure power requirements are identified and are in place. · Pack and unpack equipment. · Interface with Network Engineers to ensure network is installed in a timely manner. Under the direction of problem and/or change management records, attach and/or disconnect cables to and from computer and network equipment. · Document and get all work approved via Remedy. · Ensure cable requirements are met for installation of new or relocated equipment. · Ensure cables are installed in a neat and orderly fashion. · Ensure cables are installed in a timely manner within the change window. · Connect/disconnect computer hardware, including labeling, laying and securing cables. Update and maintain floor plans and installation documentation. · Ensure floor plans are accurate as documented in a mechanized floor placement tool. · Produce/update physical layouts for all new or relocated hardware. · Interface with vendors and other functional group to ensure that all required preventive maintenance and repair is scheduled and performed. · Track and forecast floor space, power and air conditioning accurately. Follow local procedures, instructions and test plans for all day to day functions in the Data Center. · Procedures include step by step instructions for installations, preventive maintenance, daily checklist of systems and troubleshooting. · Procedures will conform to and support all standard Methods and Procedures as documented by T2 · Produce performance reports relating to Data Center functions. Maintain technical proficiency in all phases of computer operations, data communications operating systems and applications. · Attend training classes when needed or assigned · Identify weak areas that you need trained in. · Coach and share knowledge with peers and counter parts. · Accept OJT (on the job training) as an adequate means of training. Keep problem solving skills current. Troubleshoot and repair computer and network hardware as required in the New Jersey Data Centers. · Troubleshooting includes by is not limited to isolate problems, recommend proper solutions and implement solutions. · Will require you to work closely with other technical groups located locally and remotely. · Will update problem tickets in a timely manner. (creating, researching, referring, closing). · Take necessary action to fix problems. Could involve power cycling machines, tracing, pulling and replacing cables, both above and below the raised floor. · Swapping out or replace all or parts of equipment Required Skills: · Should have knowledge and experience with UNIX and Network equipment and the functions they perform. · Should have 1 to 2 years experience with UNIX and Network equipment. · Must have good oral and written communication skills. · Knowledge of data center automation. · Must have earned a technical degree in the computer field or have equivalent work experience. · Working knowledge of UNIX operating commands a plus.
