Specific skills and experience that will be required of the candidate include: . Significant experience with racking and installation of server equipment within a Enterprise-Class Data Center . Experience with terminating and working with Cat 5, Cat 5e, fiber terminations and peripheral cabling . Strong understanding of power provisioning, PDU's and Environmental monitoring equipment . Coordinate with Facilities organization on power consumption and capacity management of PDU and UPS equipment . Understanding of KVM hardware and centralized console management environments . Maintain hardware inventory and the processes and procedures for tracking inventory of servers and spare-parts . Maintain data center inventory including spare parts, servers and peripheral equipment . Our client is currently seeking a talented Data Center Technician for a 2-3 month contract in Santa Clara, CA. This has potential to extend! The successful candidate will be reliable, self-motivated and have a minimum of two years experience in an Enterprise-Class Data Center environment. The Data Center Technician will be responsible for deploying and maintaining servers in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities, while maintaining high availability of production environments. A significant attention to detail and documentation skills will be critical success factors for this position. The successful candidate must have the ability to interact with engineers, system administrators, vendors and business customers while providing physical floor space, power and network connectivity to all the servers/devices located in the data center as well as assist on the decommission/removal of assets from the data center. The DC Technician will be responsible for the physical cabling and troubleshooting of all connectivity related issues.
